MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge of the Juvenile Court and juvenile justice system; knowledge of behavioral sciences; ability to learn new techniques quickly; ability to make practical applications of techniques and principles; ability to relate effectively to clients, their families and the general public; ability to plan and coordinate schedules, operations and resources; ability to prepare reports and classify and maintain information; ability to handle sensitive situations; skill in effective oral and written communication. Willing to handle stress in working with youth, families, and community partners while always maintaining a professional demeanor.
Pre-employment physical and drug screen required.

Job Responsibility: Under general supervision, is responsible for working with Sandusky City Schools to maintain and correct the attendance and behavioral issues of student's kindergarten through twelfth grade. Further, has the responsibility of monitoring adjudicated youth and parents' compliance with court orders.
Illustrative Duties:
- Makes home visits with parents and students for the purpose of checking on truant youth and gaining parental support in youth's educational and social development.
- Check on residency of students.
- Communicates regularly with school staff for the purpose of establishing innovative approaches to solve truancy.
- Schedule informal hearings and also assist in gathering information regarding these hearings.
- Refer students and families to Erie County Partner Agencies to assist in all matters truancy related.
- Provide access to Director of Intake for intervention of students with behavior problems.
- Participate in meetings with Community Partners assisting in all matters truancy related.
- File formal court charges of truancy or contributing charges on parent/guardian.
- Complete pre-sentence investigations on adults charged with contributing. Supervision of adjudicated adults placed on court supervision.
- Utilizes evidence based interventions for the purpose of redirecting youth toward positive school attendance.
1l. Monitor court ordered school attendance bonds, also file violation of court orders when bonds are not followed.
- Substitute for Director of Intake and serve as hearing officer for informal hearings.
- Bailiff for court hearings and document outcomes.
- Attend Sandusky City Schools meetings concerning attendance policies and procedures.
- For appropriate cases, meet with youth and parent to develop a Diversion contract with specific responsibilities for youth and/or parents to complete.
- Other related duties.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the Juvenile Court and juvenile justice system

Qualifications desirable for employment:
- Baccalaureate Degree in a behavioral science or related field and one-year experience counseling adolescents or related experience.
- Social work or counseling licensure is helpful.
- Must have a valid Ohio driver's license.
