Job Description

Support advance New Model Bumper and Instrument Panel product feasibility from styling sketch through 1st drawing issue. Create part data proposals, Tool(Mold) process plan specification and rough layout. Report technical criteria to Category Technical Expert and New Model Project Leadership. Lead Manufacturing Plastic New Model Tool verification check list requirements and drawing maturation across N.A. DEBQ functions. Support the development of New Model Plastic Tool specifications/process plan from 1st drawing to Die GO. Provide direct technical guidance and oversight to downstream customers to ensure successful design and production deliverables are met. Monitor Design Change through drawing maturation. Support complex manufacturing category problem analysis, determine root causes, recommend corrective action, and set SAP(Specific Action Plan) in the New Model development. Multiple openings. 10% domestic and international travel required.

Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or Industrial Engineering; 2 years of relevant engineering experience, including knowledge of equipment/tool new model, knowledge of automotive production facilities, and knowledge of new model development and manufacturing; 2 years of experience in automotive plastic design and injection molding; 2 years of experience supporting advanced New Model Bumper and Instrument Panel product feasibility from styling sketch through 1st drawing issue, creating part data proposals, Tool(Mold) process plan specification and rough layout, and reporting technical criteria Project Leadership; 2 years of experience leading Manufacturing Plastic New Model Tool verification check list requirements and drawing maturation: design engineering, business, purchasing, quality; 2 years of experience conceiving and leading the development of new model plastics tooling specifications/process plan from 1st drawing to Die GO, providing direct technical guidance and oversight to downstream customers to ensure successful design and production deliverables are met, and monitoring design change through drawing maturation; 2 years of experience supporting complex manufacturing category problem analysis, determining root causes, recommending corrective action, and setting SAP (Specific Action Plan) in New Model development; 2 years of presentation experience with strong communication skills, ability to summarize forming results in a clear concise manner and presenting information across multiple levels of the organization; 2 years of experience reviewing results or using Autodesk Moldflow or equivalent simulation software to understand ability to fill the product, the weld line locations, gating requirements and injection quality estimation; 2 years of experience with Catia V5 providing product feasibility confirmations through section analysis, draft and curvature analysis, and countermeasure proposal toss for product improvement creation; 2 years of experience with GD&T to understand drawing and part fit and finish requirements; 2 years of experience with MS Office with the ability to make detailed presentations in PowerPoint and to ability to utilize Excel, and One Note to make SAP documents and project schedules; 1 year of experience with Microsoft Teams to communicate, conduct meetings, and give presentations; 6 months of experience with Catia V6 providing product feasibility confirmations through section analysis, draft and curvature analysis, and countermeasure proposal toss for product improvement creation; 6 months of experience with Schedule Creation Software (example: iQuavis, Excel) to build and monitor project schedules across new model project team; and 6 months of experience with Snag-it or equivalent screenshot software with the ability to effectively take screenshots to communicate ideas and concepts of a 3D model with a 2D capture.
