Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Supervision: Manage and mentor crew members, assign daily tasks, provide on-the-job training, and ensure quality workmanship.
- Safety Management: Conduct daily safety meetings, enforce safety policies (like proper shoring/sloping), identify hazards, and maintain a safe work environment.
- Project Planning & Execution: Translate blueprints/specifications into work plans, coordinate with PMs, schedule work, and ensure timely completion.
- Resource Management: Ensure necessary materials, tools, and equipment are available, properly maintained, and operated.
- Site Operations: Oversee excavation, installation (pipe, poles), backfilling, and restoration work, potentially operating heavy equipment.
- Reporting & Administration: Complete daily reports, process timesheets, track job costs, and communicate progress to management.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Proven leadership and strong communication skills.
- Extensive experience in utility construction (underground, water, sewer, electric).
- Ability to read blueprints and understand technical specifications.
- Knowledge of local codes and inspection processes.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment and hand tools.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities
- Valid Driver's license
- OSHA 30 @ First Aid/CPR
