Position:               Probation Officer 1        Agency:      Adult Court Services Department

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate Degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and one (1) to three (3) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; must be able to qualify in the use of firearms.

Additional Qualifications (Agency/Dept. Qualifications):

Valid driver’s license

Maintains unarmed self-defense certification and follows all guidelines of the department’s Use of Force Policy and Procedure

In completing the duties and responsibilities of the position, the Court expects the employee will adhere to all Court policies, guidelines, practices and procedures; act as a role model both inside and outside the Court; perform duties as workload necessitates in a timely, accurate and thorough manner and be conscientious about meeting department productivity standards; and communicate regularly with supervisor about department issues.

 

Hours:                      Full Time, M-F, 8:00am - 4:30pm, hours may vary, some evenings or weekends as needed

Salary:                       $30.18 per hour

 

Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Adult Court Services Department Director / Deputy Director, supervises persons placed on probation; conducts required investigations; and may be assigned a specialized caseload or other special duties by the Director.

 

Duties:        

  • Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
  • Promotes and maintains positive and effective working relationships and promotes good public relationships as a representative of Licking County Government.
  • Appropriately uses the case management system to supervise caseload according to supervision standards. Implements/monitors conditions of probation as ordered by the Court to ensure compliance.
  • Conducts pre-sentence investigations, bail bond, expungement, judicial release and other investigations as assigned by the Court or by the Director and makes appropriate recommendations to the Court as to dispositions and other matters.
  • Interface with the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Law Enforcement Agencies, and Behavioral Health Providers. Maintains a working relation with community agencies and criminal justice agencies.
  • Arrest and /or assist in the arrest of probation violators, initiates and follows through with revocation proceedings. May conduct search and seizure of probationer’s person/property.
  • Conduct home visits as needed.
  • Performs on-call duties as specified during non-business hours.
  • Conduct periodic screening for drug and alcohol use by probationers. Operates urinalysis testing, and alcohol testing equipment.
  • Maintains workload statistics and completes state required data forms.
  • Maintains firearm qualification and certifications and follows all guidelines for the proper use and handling of firearms.
  • Adhere to all Court policies, guidelines, practices and procedures; act as a role model both inside and outside the Court.
  • Perform duties as workload necessitates in a timely, accurate and thorough manner and be conscientious about meeting department productivity standards.
  • Communicates regularly with Deputy Director and/or Director about department issues.
  • Remains informed of current developments and procedures pertinent to duties; may be required to attend seminars/training.
  • Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable PERRP safety standards that pertain to the essential functions of the position and all agency safety procedures.
