Inertial Aerospace a HEICO Company (NYSE: HEI) is hiring a Sustaining Engineering Manager to join our Avionics team. Inertial Aerospace has decades of experience in the aviation industry and continues to be the leader in the repair of inertial navigation equipment and aircraft avionics. The Sustaining Engineering Manager leads engineering support activities for designing and supporting current Test Equipment and Systems. This role is responsible for ensuring the continued support and implementing improvements to ensure reliability, through effective technical leadership, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate combines strong technical depth in test systems with people leadership, process ownership, and a continuous-improvement mindset.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities


Lead and manage the Sustaining Engineering team supporting test equipment and systems
Provide technical oversight for troubleshooting, failure analysis, and root cause corrective action of test equipment and systems
Support development, maintenance, approval of test procedures, and engineering data
Serve as the primary sustaining engineering interface with Operations, Quality and Management
Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to repair turn-around time (TAT), yield, and cost
Support audits (FAA, EASA, customer) and assist with corrective action responses
Manage Sustaining Engineering team budget each fiscal year
Manage engineering metrics, workload prioritization, and resource planning
Mentor and develop engineers, fostering technical excellence and accountability

Required Qualifications


Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical discipline
5+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering and/or Aerospace Engineering
3+ years of engineering leadership or people management experience
Strong knowledge of Test Equipment and Systems, electronic troubleshooting, and failure analysis
Experience with engineering documentation, repair specifications, and test procedures
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications


5+ years of experience in aerospace engineering, with significant experience in maintaining and supporting test equipment and systems
Working knowledge of FAA Part 145 repair station requirements and related regulations
Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience
Prior experience supporting airline, military, or OEM customers
