Within our Underground Services Practice, we are seeking a Senior Tunnel Engineer based in Boston, MA. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience working on geotechnical, underground, tunnel, or trenchless construction projects, including both design and construction management roles and possess the professional and interpersonal skills to make a positive impact on our firm and the clients we serve.

Annual Compensation: $85,000 - 140,000 based upon experience, certifications, and regional market standards.

SENIOR TUNNEL ENGINEER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Manage tasks, projects, and technical staff.
* Prepare construction plans and specifications, structural/ geotechnical calculations and design reports, as well as technical memoranda.
* Produce design calculations (including numerical analysis) as required in support of tunnel and trenchless design including support of excavation (shafts & tunnels - including connection details and complex structures), and adherence to all local and national codes of practice for concrete, steel, and timber design.
* Oversee the completion of geotechnical investigations in both soil and rock geology.
* Develop design parameters from geotechnical reports.
* Prepare Technical Memoranda, Geotechnical Data Reports (GDR's), and Geotechnical Baseline Reports (GBR's).
* Increase Aldea/LJB's visibility with internal and external professionals by participating in regional initiatives, conferences, committees, and community associations, including any identified industry activities.
* Other duties as assigned.
* Field based assignments will include weekdays, night, and weekend work. Office based assignments will require a standard weekday business hours work schedule.

SENIOR TUNNEL ENGINEER ESSENTIAL CREDENTIALS:

Education:

* Bachelor's degree in relevant area of study required (Civil, Structural, Geological/Geotechnical, or related field)
* Master's degree preferred.

Qualifications:


* 10+ years of relevant experience including project experience in the planning, design, and construction of a variety of tunnel and trenchless projects.
* Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred but not required.
* Excellent problem solving, decision making and teamwork skills.
* Excellent technical writing skills and attention to detail.
* Excellent communication skills, a thorough knowledge of relevant technical codes, operations, processes, and trends.
* Ability to work weekdays, nights, and weekends within the field.
* Ability to work a standard weekday work schedule during business hours within the office.
* Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors, and clients.
* Ability to work independently, exercise independent judgment, interact with other staff, collaborate with other disciplines, and mentor junior staff.
