The Employee Benefits Specialist supports internal departments with the administration and coordination of employee benefits programs. This role is responsible for employee benefit enrollments, system maintenance, payroll coordination, employee education, and ongoing support related to benefit programs. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage complex benefits-related matters with professionalism and confidentiality.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process employee benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations
- Explain benefit options and coverage details to employees
- Maintain and update the benefits administration system
- Provide payroll deduction information to payroll staff
- Update and maintain health insurance guidelines and documentation
- Prepare materials and conduct employee education for annual open enrollment
- Collaborate with internal departments regarding benefits-related needs
- Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Five (5) years of experience in employee benefits
- Experience working in a public-sector environment
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in employee benefits or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong writing, organization, and communication skills
- Experience handling complex employee benefits issues
- Valid State of Ohio driver’s license
