Summary:
Boiler service company has an opening for full time Field Service Technician. The position requires field service on commercial/industrial boiler and burner systems in Northern Ohio. This includes natural gas, and fuel oil combustion testing, adjusting, of the fuel/air ratio on various boilers, burners, ovens and incinerators, while using an electronic combustion analyzer in addition to other customer boiler service needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of troubleshooting and maintaining industrial/commercial steam and hot water boilers, boiler room operation, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Responsible for retrofit and repair of boilers, burners and accessories, utilizing knowledge of steam and hot water theory, pipe fitting, and mechanical layouts.
  • Familiar with all forms of flame safeguards and the use of VOM's and other trouble shooting tools.
  • Conduct calibration, repair, and adjustment of associated controls
  • Perform preventative maintenance, site surveys, replacement, and modifications to customer's equipment.
  • Assist in installations and start-up of newly installed boilers and burners
  • Prepare for new equipment commissioning and repairs by examining equipment, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials and coordinating on-site work.

Requirements:

  • Follow schematics, piping diagrams, and blueprints.
  • Occasional travel out of state for customer sites
  • Responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Identify, analyze, diagnose, and repair systems and products in customer's location.
  • Flexibility to work overtime/weekends as necessary.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Participate in on-going training to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Keep current on the installation, operations, service, and repair of the represented products
  • Minimum of five years of mechanical work experience.
  • High School diploma or equivalent 
  • Ability to pass a preemployment screening

Communication and Organization Skills:
  • Document work by completing daily paperwork on each job.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Determine parts to order for repairs and timeliness of need.
  • Maintain inventory of required supplies and tools on company supplied service vehicle.
  • Communicate sales leads to sales department.
  • Effectively present in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, and other employees.

Math and Reasoning Skills:
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure including rate, ratio, and percentage.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Education, Certifications, Licenses, Registration:
  • Valid driver's license
  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum of five years of mechanical work experience
  • License (Boiler Operator, Gas Installer, etc) preferred
  • Certifications or vocation or technical training preferred

Physical Requirements:
  • Full mobility is required
