POSITION SUMMARY
The Buildings and Grounds Department is seeking a full-time Laborer to support the maintenance, upkeep, and safety of county facilities. This role involves a wide range of indoor and outdoor manual labor tasks to ensure that buildings, grounds, and equipment are well-maintained, clean, and in good working condition. This position requires physical stamina, teamwork, and the ability to follow safety procedures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain exterior grounds including mowing, trimming, edging, raking, pruning, watering, and snow/ice removal
- Perform outdoor labor such as fence repair and installation, concrete mixing, ditch digging, scaffolding setup, trash removal, and catch basin repairs
- Assist with indoor maintenance and custodial tasks including moving furniture, setting up tables and chairs, sweeping, mopping, waxing floors, and cleaning windows
- Make minor equipment adjustments and assist with basic repairs as needed
- Perform general labor and maintenance tasks as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of general safety precautions and manual labor practices
- Understanding of basic landscaping and building/grounds maintenance techniques
- Ability to safely operate standard power tools and vehicles
- Physical ability to perform heavy manual labor, including frequent lifting and moving of objects up to 100 pounds
- Ability to complete repetitive tasks and follow instructions accurately
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to work effectively on group projects
