Job Functions / Responsibilities

SUMMARY

Performs all position welding on various sizes, shapes and structures, requiring broad knowledge of welding technology.

JOB DUTIES

SELECTS WELDING PROCEDURES IN ACCORDANCE WITH TYPE OF WORK AND MATERIALS INVOLVED.
WELDS ON ALL TYPES OF METALS AND ALLOYS IN VARIOUS SIZES, SHAPES AND ON DIVERSIFIED ASSEMBLIES, PRODUCTS OR STRUCTURES.
PRODUCES WELDS SUBJECT TO XRAY ANALYSIS, MAGNAFLUX INSPECTION, DYE CHECK AND/OR GAS TIGHT PRESSURE OR OTHER TESTS.
MAY SET UP, ADJUST AND OPERATE A VARIETY OF MACHINE TOOLS REQUIRING CLOSE TOLERANCE WORK; INSPECT OWN WORK FOR CONFORMANCE WITH SPECIFICATIONS, USING GAUGES, TEMPLATES OR OTHER MEASURING DEVICES.
MAY PERFORM CERTIFIED WELDS IN ALL AREAS OF PLANT.
BID WINNER MUST PASS WELDER QUALIFICATION TESTING
PERFORMS OTHER RELATED DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.
ATTENDANCE IS AN ESSENTIAL FUNCTION OF ANY POSITION.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Must pass welder qualification testing
Must possess an accredited welding certificate
High school diploma or GED supplemented by appropriate technical school training
Threefive years related experience.

Applicants will not be given a Weld test to determine qualification unless they are able to provide one of the following:

1) Certificate of completion from technical school

2) Welding Certificate

3) Verification of 3-5 years of weld experience (letter from previous employer stating weld experience)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must meet physical requirements of the position with or without accommodations

Education

Certified weld inspector

High School Diploma/GED
