Job Description

To operate CT scanners, obtaining diagnostic images of specified body parts as requested. The technologist must be able to produce quality images to present to the radiologist for interpretation and function independently with minimal supervision.

Job Responsibilities

Greet patients by introducing oneself and asking patients to verify their name and birthdate.

Take pertinent patient history. Review order for procedure and any other documentation, current medications, allergy information, and completed questionnaire.

Explain procedure to the patient and solicit questions to assure understanding.

Be proactive in anticipating needs of the patient, keep patient and family informed of delays, answer questions, and respond appropriately to concerns by following up on issues or contacting someone who can.

Communicate with all customers, co-workers, physicians, and their office staff in a professional manner respecting differences.

Adhere to all hospital/Imaging Center policies and Excel core values striving to exceed expectations.

Position patient, scan, and archive procedures according to established protocol producing diagnostic images within quality control parameters.

Utilize proper venipuncture techniques to prepare patient for contrast media administration as necessary. Administer contrast media for the proper completion of CT scans according to established protocol or as directed by a physician. Label syringes appropriately according to policy.

Properly identify, prepare, administer, and document various medications used during procedures.

Reconcile patient medications to ensure the patients' current medications will not interact with the contrast media used.

Complete all work in a timely, efficient, productive manner.

Assist co-workers in other modalities as appropriate, starting IVs, completing computer functions, preparation of patients.

Assist physician with invasive procedures as applicable.

Verify physician orders for accuracy and act upon appropriately.

Utilize appropriate radiation reducing techniques that do not compromise high-quality images.

Protect patients, self, and all other personnel from radiation exposure.

Wear and store dosimeter appropriately, switching out monthly and in a timely manner.

Use appropriate devices for moving patients to protect the patient as well as self.

Observe patient and assist as necessary to minimize risk of falls or other injury.

Required Skills & Experience

Knowledge of medical terminology, isolation, and sterile techniques/procedures.

Patient positioning and equipment operation (x-ray machines and printers).

Preferred Skills & Experience

Minimum 2 years related experience.

Schedule Notes

Duration: 13 weeks M-F 2:30P-1A, 4-10 hour shifts, and every 4th weekend, 2:30P-1A; Switch with another tech to cover RTO on weekend shifts. Cover 3rd shift vacation days Required: CT registered 2 years CT experience Preferred: Phillips CT, Bracco injector, EPIC, PACS: MCKESSON, OP, IP,& ER EXAMS: Cardiac, TAVR, CTA, Code stroke, HD, CAP,
