Job Description

Material Handler

 Description: The Material Handler is responsible for the efficient movement and staging of raw materials, components, and finished goods to support daily production and assembly operations. This role ensures production lines are properly staged with the correct materials in a timely manner, helps maintain inventory accuracy, and supports warehouse and production teams to ensure a smooth workflow.

Hourly, Non-Exempt, reports to Production Coordinator

1st Shift schedule M – TH 4:00am – 2:30pm, subject to change

Salary: $20 - $22 an hour based on experience

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Pull, transport, and deliver raw materials, components, and packaging to designated staging areas for current and upcoming production jobs.
  • Stage materials at production lines based on work orders, schedules, and inventory needs.
  • Work closely with production leads and supervisors to ensure materials are available to prevent downtime.
  • Follow all safety and housekeeping procedures to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Identify and report shortages, damaged goods, or quality concerns to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain organized and clearly labeled staging areas.
  • Assist in loading and unloading deliveries and ensure that received materials are correctly stored.
  • Ensure proper documentation of inventory movement using ERP or other inventory tracking systems.
  • Participate in cycle counts, physical inventories, and reconciliation efforts.
  • Assist with other warehouse or production duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders and production schedules.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods.
  • Forklift certification preferred.
