Job Description Summary

The College of Arts & Sciences at Shawnee State University seeks a qualified individual beginning January 2026 to serve as Part-time Faculty (Adjunct) in the Department of Natural Sciences in the following area:

  • Introductory Chemistry
The successful candidate will serve, in partnership with Pickaway-Ross Career and Technology Center, at the Chillicothe, OH campus.

They and their family (children 14 years and up) also have free access to the Rhodes Athletic Facility.
 
Employment with the University is dependent upon BOT budget approval for the current fiscal year. A background check is required prior to hire. Official transcripts are required and must be submitted prior to hire to Dr. Christopher Meade, Chair of the Department of Natural Sciences at 940 2nd Street, Portsmouth, OH 45662.

Minimum Qualifications
(EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXPERIENCE)
1. Master’s degree in the respective or related area
2. Possess excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with students with a wide range of skills
3. Ability to use technology in teaching
4. Ability to use collaborative learning techniques and student-centered methods of instruction
5. Ability to work in a multiethnic/multicultural environment
6. Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes evening and weekend assignments – daytime availability a plus (in some cases, may be required)
