JOB SUMMARY
The Head Teacher is responsible for the daily instruction of students (grades K-8, ages 5-14) in various subject areas (reading, mathematics, physical education, science, social studies, language arts, fine arts), student discipline, and outward communication to the church and community. He/she will implement and complete projects and programs that reflect the school’s mission, vision, and philosophy, based on the tenets and doctrines of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
• Directs and guides the school curriculum and develops and maintains patterns of programming such as classwork, recreation schedules, school activities, and educational experiences.
• Develops and directs programs and activities such as daily worship, Christian services outreach activities, and week of prayer programming to advance students’ spiritual life and to promote the overall religious tenor and spiritual climate of the school while instilling Christian values in the student body.
• Implements the administrative policies of the Ohio Conference Board of Education, the Columbia Union Conference Education Code, Worthington Adventist Academy School Board, and the operational policies of the school and acquaints parents and other stakeholders with policies and procedures relative to the operation of the school, via the Student Handbook.
• Ensures that the school’s vision, mission and philosophy are interpreted and reflected through specific school programs and activities.
• Uses various learning styles to reach all students, makes appropriate accommodations for students with learning differences, and implements lesson plans that review previous student learning, states learning objectives, and provides instruction with modeling.
• Supervises middle and elementary school teachers, teacher aides, and administrative assistants.
• Continues professional development by reading professional publications and participating in professional development organizations; collaborates with colleagues, disseminates current learning developments and instructional strategies, and supports the personal and professional development and growth of the school’s education team.
• Prepares periodic reports on student academic progress for presentation to the Worthington Adventist Academy School Board and completes all records, reports, and data requested by the Ohio Conference Office of Education in a timely manner.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in education, or related, or foreign equivalent; two years’ experience as a teacher; and NAD Teacher Certification.
