Job Summary
We are hiring Entry-Level Data Center Technicians to support the installation, organization, and maintenance of structured cabling and related infrastructure within critical data center environments. This contract-to-hire role offers hands-on training, mentorship, and a defined path for career growth within the low voltage and telecommunications industry. Technicians will contribute to large-scale infrastructure projects, working with copper and fiber cabling, equipment installation, and safety-focused processes in active construction and data center settings.

Job Responsibilities

Install structured cabling systems, including copper and fiber rough-in.

Perform cable management tasks, including dressing, labeling, and organizing cabling.

Terminate copper cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A) and assist with or perform basic fiber terminations.

Install racks, cabinets, ladder racks, fiber trays, and related infrastructure components.

Rack, stack, and assist with the installation of customer equipment.

Build out server racks according to rack elevation diagrams.

Support infrastructure installations, including cable management systems, ladder racks, and power trays.

Receive materials, stage equipment, and assemble hardware as needed.

Assist with Outside Plant (OSP) work, including routing fiber into the data center.

Read and interpret blueprints, cable maps, and installation drawings.

Conduct basic cable testing using continuity testers, tone and probe tools, or by assisting with advanced copper or fiber testing.

Communicate progress, issues, and material needs to leads or supervisors in a professional manner.

Coordinate work activities with other trades to prevent conflicts in shared spaces.

Document completed work, cable counts, and any routing or installation changes.

Maintain clean, organized work areas that meet data center cleanliness standards.

Follow all safety guidelines, including proper PPE usage and jobsite housekeeping requirements.

Job Requirements

Hands-on experience installing low voltage cabling in commercial, industrial, or data center environments.

Experience pulling, routing, and securing cabling through ladder racks, basket trays, J hooks, and structured pathways.

Familiarity with structured cabling standards, including bend radius and cable support requirements.

Experience working on active construction sites while adhering to safety protocols.

Ability to work on ladders, lifts, overhead spaces, and in tight or elevated areas.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow written and verbal instructions.

Education

High School Diploma or GED equivalency required.

Work Experience

0-2 years of experience in a data center technician, low voltage, or related technical role preferred.

Work schedule may vary by location:

New Albany: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Lancaster: 4:00 PM - 3:00 AM

Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds, stand or walk for the duration of the shift, and work in confined spaces.

Required tools include basic hand tools such as a multi-bit screwdriver, tape measure, snips, pliers, punch-down tool, flashlight, tool pouch, and steel-toe or composite-toe work boots.

OSHA 10 certification is preferred but not required.
