Position Summary

Pharmacy Technicians play a critical role in supporting patient care by assisting in the preparation and dispensing of medications while ensuring accuracy, safety, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This position supports pharmacists and the pharmacy team in delivering efficient, high‑quality service to patients and customers in a fast‑paced environment.

Pharmacy Technicians are expected to uphold high professional and ethical standards, maintain patient confidentiality, and contribute to a positive, customer‑focused experience. This role is well‑suited for individuals who are detail‑oriented, compassionate, and comfortable working in a dynamic healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pharmacy operations by managing assigned workstations and tasks
  • Assist in the accurate and timely preparation of prescriptions under pharmacist supervision
  • Provide courteous, professional customer service to patients and customers
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at all times
  • Identify and resolve issues appropriately or escalate concerns when necessary
  • Contribute to a collaborative, respectful team environment

Training and Development

New Pharmacy Technicians may be required to complete an employer‑provided training program and meet all registration, licensing, and certification requirements established by the applicable State Board of Pharmacy. Job duties may be limited until all required credentials and training are completed. Ongoing learning opportunities may be available to support continued professional growth.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Pharmacy Technician Trainee license or equivalent, as required by state regulations
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain focus over extended periods
  • Customer service skills with a demonstrated ability to assist others in a friendly and professional manner
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to perform calculations related to prescriptions
  • Problem‑solving skills, including the ability to recognize issues and select appropriate solutions

Physical Demands

  • Prolonged standing and walking
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for tasks such as typing, counting, and handling small items
  • Reaching, bending, stooping, and lifting as required by the role
  • Ability to lift and move items weighing up to approximately 30 pounds
  • Visual acuity sufficient for reading, data entry, and inspection of small items
  • Ability to communicate effectively through spoken and written means

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a pharmacy, healthcare, retail, or customer service setting
  • Prior experience as a Pharmacy Technician
  • National Pharmacy Technician certification (e.g., PTCB), where applicable

Education

High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.
