Job Description:
Responsible for developing, implementing, and delivering safety education and training correspondence and materials, ensuring team members are effectively educated on the elements of the Company Safety and Health Management System. Develop, modify, and roll out content to align with the Company's practices to enhance knowledge and skills needed to perform jobs safely - Safety 24/7.
ESSENTIAL Duties and Responsibilities:
New Hire and Site Safety Orientation: Conduct onboarding for new team members including drug testing, Workday information collection, new hire and site specific safety orientation content delivery.
Training Program Management: Execute safety training and educational content tailored to the Company and project site. Utilize appropriate teaching methods (e.g., interactive, video, hands-on) and delivery formats (in-person, online, or blended learning).
Educational Materials and Correspondence: Develop educational materials such as manuals, guides, presentations, Safety Talks, and handouts to support operations managers and team members. Ensure consistent messaging on safety topics across locations/facilities, as appropriate.
Evaluation of Education and Training: Collaborate with Safety leadership and operations management to measure learning outcomes, gather feedback, and evaluate the effectiveness to improve or adjust educational information and training.
Data Analysis and Reporting: Maintain thorough documentation of all training and education, including attendance records, training materials, evaluations, and participant feedback. Ensure team members meet safety training and certification requirements for their specific roles. Use this data to generate reports that assess training effectiveness and inform future training initiatives.
Training Delivery: Facilitate on-site safety training, as well as online learning.
Risk Identification and Mitigation: Work with Safety leadership and operations management to incorporate risk mitigation strategies into training and educational programs, correspondence, and materials.
Operational Coordination: Work with Safety leadership, operational management, and subject manager experts to develop specialized content for specific training/educational needs.
Technology Integration: Using tools, such as multimedia and MS Office Suite to enhance learning communications, materials, and experience.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in safety and health or equivalent combinations of technical training and experience.
3 to 10+ years of experience with safety and health in the construction industry preferred.
KnOWLEDGE, Skills and Abilities:
Technical Skills:
Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulations as well as other state/federal safety regulations and company safety policies/procedures.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks independently and manage safety programs effectively.
Proficient in developing training and educational materials and with various training methodologies and online learning platforms to effectively engage diverse audiences.
Ability to work in high production environment (50+ hours/week, including nights and weekends) and respond quickly and effectively under pressure and deadlines.
Personal computer skills (MS Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Phone Apps, Power BI, etc.).
Strong organization and administrative recording skills.
Strong writing and communication skills (emails, memos, correspondence, etc.).
Works independently, seeking guidance on complex situations.
Considered a subject matter expert in two or more elements of the safety and health management system.
Leadership Skills:
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to think independently, communicate thoroughly and influence the proper implementation of safety and health policies and procedures.
Ability to make independent judgements to manage and facilitate company programs/policies related to the safety of the work.
Ability to positively interact and influence supervisors, operations managers, and field team members to create a safe work environment.
Ability to have a difficult or sensitive conversation to influence leadership and team members to positively impact behaviors.
Knowledgeable with multiple projects and operations and integrates best practices and recommendations.
Proactively identifies and pursues opportunities for development of technical skills and leadership.
Operates with honesty and integrity.
Acts as a resource for Safety staff, Safety leadership, supervisors, operations managers, and team members.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:
Valid Driver's License, good driving record required.
CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
OSHA 30-Hour and 10-Hour Trainer certification preferred.
GSP, ASP, CSP or CHST Designation preferred.
