Role Mission
Own and lead Hexion's global raw materials value agenda. This role sets the commercial, risk, and capability direction for ~$950M in raw material spend, ensuring resilient supply, structurally advantaged cost positions, and supplier ecosystems that enable Hexion's strategy today and into the future. The Senior Director is the company's point of integration between markets, suppliers, operations, and finance for raw materials.
This is a high-impact, enterprise-critical leadership role with direct influence on EBITDA, cash, continuity of supply, and speed of decision-making.

Core Responsibilities
1. Enterprise Raw Materials Strategy
Define and continuously evolve the global raw materials strategy aligned to Hexion's business priorities, portfolio direction, and regional needs
Translate market dynamics (feedstocks, energy, trade flows, regulation) into actionable sourcing and pricing strategies
Act as the executive owner of raw materials risk, balancing cost, supply security, and optionality
2. Commercial Leadership & Value Creation
Lead commercial strategy and execution for key raw material categories, including pricing models, indexation, hedging logic (where applicable), and contract structures
Personally lead or sponsor the most critical supplier negotiations and relationship resets
Build and deploy deep cost models, should-cost analyses, and market benchmarks to challenge suppliers with credibility
Drive EBITDA, cash, and working capital outcomes through disciplined, creative commercial approaches
3. Supplier Ecosystem & Partnerships
Architect a differentiated supplier portfolio based on category and risk profile
Establish executive-level relationships with critical suppliers to improve transparency, reliability, and joint problem-solving
Lead supplier performance management focused on outcomes (supply reliability, responsiveness, cost, innovation)

4. Market Intelligence & Risk Management
Build a forward-looking market intelligence capability covering cost drivers, capacity changes, geopolitics, sustainability pressures, and logistics
Ensure early-warning systems and scenario-based decision-making are embedded into procurement and business planning
Proactively manage interdependencies across raw material categories and regions
5. Organizational Leadership & Talent Development
Lead, coach, and elevate a global team of commodity managers
Set clear expectations for commercial rigor, curiosity, accountability, and speed
Develop next-generation procurement leaders with strong business judgment and negotiation confidence
Foster a culture that rewards fact-based challenge, external orientation, and calculated risk-taking
6. Transformation & Ways of Working
Coach fit-for-purpose procurement approaches by category
Simplify decision-making, reduce cycle times, and focus the organization on the few moves that matter most
Leverage digital tools and analytics pragmatically to enable insight and speed

Net raw material cost performance vs. market benchmarks
Supply continuity and resilience
Working capital and cash impact from raw materials decisions
Quality and timeliness of market intelligence informing business decisions
Capability and engagement level of the raw materials procurement team
Minimum Qualifications
15+ years of progressive experience in chemical industry procurement and/or supply chain roles
Demonstrated ownership of large, complex raw material spend ($500M+ preferred)
Significant experience leading global teams and operating in international environments
Track record of delivering material commercial impact and navigating volatile markets
Experience working closely with manufacturing, R&D, finance, and commercial leadership
