Overview




NaphCare is hiring a Medical Scheduler/Records Clerk to join our team of medical professionals at FCI Elkton where we manage healthcare services for the residents of this low security federal correctional institution located in Lisbon, OH. This position will be remote, however candidates will need to be available to travel to the prison if needed for meetings.

As a Correctional Medical Scheduler/Records Clerk, you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide counseling and mental health care to schedule healthcare appointments for the inmates on and off-site. This is a unique and interesting position where security is paramount, and the days are never dull.


Responsibilities




The Medical Scheduler will schedule appointments and maintain the medical records for all BOP medical appointments on and off-site. Duties and responsibilities may include and are not limited to:

Scheduling various medical appointments, including on-site clinic visits and off-site specialist appointments, as recommended by medical staff

Maintaining accurate and confidential medical records, including entering consultation requests into the system and managing patient information
Arranging transportation for inmates to and from appointments, ensuring timely and secure transfers

Assist with reviewing medical records and authorization scenarios
Assist with maintaining a calendar and utilize technology to maximize efficiencies of the scheduling process

Effectively communicating with healthcare staff, patients, and other relevant parties regarding appointments, scheduling changes, and other medical information
Adhering to all relevant security protocols, confidentiality standards, and HIPAA regulations


Qualifications




Requirements / Qualifications:

Must have a high school diploma or GED certificate

Prior training in a medical office setting scheduling medical appointments and working with medical records, strongly preferred
A working knowledge of medical terminology and various types of medical specialties

Experience utilizing computer systems for scheduling, data entry, and report generation, often handling large volumes of data

Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
Must possess strong written communication and verbal skills

Demonstrate skills in accuracy and multi-tasking with a strong attention to detail and a commitment to customer service throughout the scheduling and claims process
Demonstrate a high comfort level in working with large volumes of data
Maintain confidentiality when managing medical records, patient data and NaphCare processes

Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
