Job Summary
The General Superintendent provides senior-level oversight and coordination across multiple construction projects, ensuring effective field leadership and workforce alignment. This role directs Superintendents and Foremen, oversees craft labor planning and deployment, and ensures field operations meet established schedule, budget, quality, and safety objectives. The General Superintendent partners with internal leadership and project teams to strengthen operational performance, workforce development, and project execution.

Job Responsibilities

Collaborate with operations leadership to align field leadership assignments with project demands.

Oversee craft workforce planning, deployment, and staffing adjustments across active projects.

Provide guidance and support to Superintendents and Foremen throughout all phases of construction.

Monitor project schedules to ensure milestone commitments and critical path activities remain on track.

Identify and communicate field conditions or operational challenges that may affect cost, schedule, or quality.

Coordinate with subcontract partners to resolve field-related concerns and maintain project momentum.

Lead resource planning efforts and maintain structured workforce tracking processes.

Support implementation of established quality management standards and field compliance practices.

Evaluate opportunities for self-performed work and assist in execution planning and performance oversight.

Promote and reinforce safety standards in collaboration with designated safety leadership.

Oversee performance management and professional development initiatives for craft personnel.

Support succession planning and career progression for high-performing field team members.

Coordinate field training initiatives to enhance technical capability and leadership development.

Contribute to preconstruction planning efforts, including operational strategy, logistics coordination, and schedule development.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of ten years of progressive construction experience, or an equivalent combination of education and practical field leadership experience.

Demonstrated ability to lead multiple field teams across concurrent projects.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard construction management software platforms.

Ability to travel as required to support project needs.

Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Ability to access and navigate active construction sites, including climbing stairs and ladders and working at heights when necessary.

Ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as required by site conditions.

Visual acuity sufficient to perform detailed inspections and maintain situational awareness in active work environments.

Ability to work in environments exposed to weather conditions, elevated work areas, mechanical equipment, airborne particles, loud noise levels, and other typical construction site conditions.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.

Work Experience

Minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in construction field leadership or operations management.
