Duties: Responsible for advancing Body Frame Weld equipment feasibility study for New Model Body in White construction from styling sketch through first drawing issue. Create strategy and plans for study, specification, and equipment concept. Report New Model equipment content to Project Leadership and Business Unit Mgmt. Responsible for Manufacturing Weld New Model equipment verification check list requirements and drawing maturation across the company's North American DEBQ (Design, Engineering, BOP/Purchasing and Quality) functions. Responsible for development of New Model Weld Equipment specifications and process plan to first Plan. Provide direct technical guidance and oversight to downstream customers to ensure successful design and production deliverables are met. Monitor Design Change through drawing maturation. Support complex manufacturing category problem analysis, determine root causes, recommend corrective action, and set SAP (Specific Action Plan) in the New Model development. Research and influence the future path of development methods and processes. Provide mentoring, coaching, and technical guidance to less experienced engineers. 10% travel to unanticipated domestic and/or int’l locations required.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Production, Mechatronics, Manufacturing, or Weld Engineering; 5 yrs relevant professional exp; 5 yrs exp. in Automotive Production Equipment development or Body In White (BIW) Product development; 5 yrs exp. in gathering and analyzing data to design develop and implement an automotive manufacturing system to introduce new models and modify/upgrade existing ones; 5 yrs exp. in Development of Automotive Production equipment from Concept through final Design using software such as CATIA V5, V6, Solidworks, and Auto CAD; and 5 yrs exp. in Robotic Simulation of Automotive Body in White / Paint / Final Assembly for product equipment’s and process validations.
