CAD Drafter / Designer

Hours: Full Time (M-F, 8-5)

POSITION SUMMARY

CAD Drafter/Designer to support design engineering functions by creating and refining detailed 2D and 3D drawings for custom automation solutions. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, proficiency in CAD software, and the ability to collaborate across departments. Limited travel to customer sites may be required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and modify detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings
  • Support design engineering team initiatives
  • Interpret specifications and engineering sketches to produce design documentation
  • Prepare bills of materials (BOMs) and ensure proper drawing documentation
  • Maintain organized CAD file management system for revision control and documentation tracking
  • Maintain quality control documentation (first article inspections, in-process inspection reports, etc.)
  • Generate quotes for contract manufacturing and spare parts
  • Assist in developing technical manuals, installation guides, and supporting documentation
  • Stay current on CAD software developments and industry trends

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree or technical certification in Mechanical Design, Drafting, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred or similar 2D/3D modeling tools)
  • Understanding of mechanical design principles, automation, and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering specifications
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in automation, fabrication, or manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
  • Experience programming waterjetting, laser forming equipment, or press brakes
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with customers, vendors, engineers, shop personnel, and leadership
