Position Summary
The Press Operator is responsible for setting up and operating heavy‑duty power press equipment to manufacture metal components according to specifications. This position requires prior experience operating Progressive Press / Progressive Die stamping machines and the ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Set up and operate heavy‑duty power presses, including progressive press and progressive die stamping machines, to bend, form, stretch, and straighten metal components.
- Assist with setup and operation of automatic, multi‑slide, and progressive press machines for various stamping operations.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, route sheets, schedules, and verbal or written work instructions.
- Plan and sequence press operations using knowledge of materials and press capabilities.
- Load metal coils and materials; adjust uncoilers, feeders, stroke length, and press settings as required.
- Assist with setup of complex progressive dies, movable and stationary forming blocks.
- Inspect in‑process and finished parts using micrometers, calipers, scales, and fixed gauges to ensure adherence to specifications.
- Move materials using lift trucks or cranes as necessary.
- Install, verify, and maintain required press safety devices.
- Identify and report equipment malfunctions, defective materials, or unusual conditions to supervision.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Follow all safety rules, procedures, and quality standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned, including overtime as needed to meet production demands.
Required Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing experience
- Minimum of 3 years of hands‑on experience operating Progressive Press / Progressive Die stamping machines (required)
