JOB SUMMARY:
The purpose of this position is to prepare and provide food service to residents in a
cost-effective, efficient manner to safely meet residents' needs in compliance with federal, state
and local requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND MAJOR DUTIES:
1. Handle and prepare food in a sanitary manner.
2. Prepare food which is palatable and appetizing in appearance.
3. Keep work area clean and sanitize work surfaces after food preparation.
4. Follow written menus and recipes.
5. Understand and be able to prepare therapeutic diets.
6. Be responsible for avoiding food waste.
7. Assume responsibility for meeting meal schedules.
8. Ensure food service equipment is in and is kept in good working order.
9. Work cooperatively with dietary staff and other departments. 1a.Attend in-service training
programs for dietary employees.
11. Observe infection control procedures.
12.Ensure the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process is followed in accordance to State &
Federal Guidelines.
13.Follow Residents' Rights policies at all times.
14.Adhere to all facility policies & procedures, ensure they are adhered to by all responsible
parties and assist in carrying out disciplinary action for non-compliance as appropriate.
15.Ensure adherence to the Corporate Integrity Program and the Performance Expectations at all
times.
16.Perform other related duties as directed by the Dietary Manager and/or person of authority.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Certification or Degree in Culinary Arts preferred. Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Chef or
similar role preferred. Previous experience cooking in a long term care setting preferred. Previous
experience leading and managing a kitchen preferred. Strong both written and verbal communication
skills required.

LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, COMPLIANCE CHECKS AND/OR CERTIFICATION
Certification as an Activities Professional preferred. Successfully complete &/or comply with all
required background checks to include but not limited to: Ohio BCl&I fingerprint analysis, FBI (if
applicable) fingerprint analysis, Nurse Aide Registry, HHS/OIG list of Excluded
Individuals/Entities (LEIE) & Ohio Medicaid Provider Exclusion and Suspension List.
Certification, Diploma or Degree in Culinary Arts.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR PATIENT CARE
Provide services based on physician orders. Communicate physician, patient and family needs with
the appropriate caregivers.

COMPUTER
Intermediate personal computer skills including electronic mail, routine database activity and word
processing.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with the direction and management of the dietary team within assigned facility(s).

RESPONSIBILITY FOR CONFIDENTIAL MATTERS
Works regularly with some information such as medical records or reports, financial reports,
information on computer screens or other electronic devices, and records that are restricted to
specific persons. Must comply with confidentiality policy.
