MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Some knowledge of Juvenile Court; basic computer skills; ability to work with confidential information; good communication skills; ability to follow oral and written communication; ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and the general public; some knowledge of the community; ability to be alert to surroundings while in the field for safety reasons, conflict de-escalation skills, ability to connect families with community resources. A minimum of a High School diploma or GED; any combination of training and/or work experience which indicates possession of the skills, knowledge and abilities listed in the illustrative duties; possession of a valid Ohio driver's license in good standing.
Pre-employment physical and drug screen required.

job Responsibility:
Under general supervision is responsible for monitoring youth who are placed on House Arrest by Court Order or Probation referral. Youth are placed into the program as an alternative to secure detention to protect both the youth and the community, The primary functions of the Home Detention worker are to monitor and report the youth's progress while in the program.
Illustrative Duties:
- Explains the conditions and rules of the Home Detention Contract and Monitoring Program to the youth and family which have been assigned to the program by Court Order or Probation referral.
- Maintains face to face and/or telephone contact with assigned youth, families and school officials on a daily basis, Majority of work time is spent in Erie County's wide variety of neighborhoods.
- Supports the youth and family in maintaining the conditions of the contract.
- Conducts random drug testing.
- Installs and oversees electronic monitoring equipment in the home of youth who are Court Ordered into the Electronic Monitoring Program.
- Locates and retrieves home monitoring units from Defendant' s/Youth's home.
- Reports infractions of the contract to the Court and files charges in cases where it is indicated and as required by the Court.
- Completes the court reports that document the progress the youth has made with respect to following the contract rules.
- Provides timely and accurate documentation of all contacts in OJSS/Attenti case management system.
- Maintains a record of all contacts made concerning the assigned cases.
- Complete necessary' tasks on a computer, such as but not limited to-Track GPS coordinates with monitor software, complete case notes / tracking data into case management systems and write brief summaries / terminations report for the court.
- Intervenes and follows proper protocol regarding crises, physical abuse, threats of suicide, homelessness, and other critical situations (ex: making referral to JFS, contacting Mobile Crisis, etc.)
