About The Role:
The Programmer & Multimedia Specialist is a member of the Agency’s IT team responsible for supporting and maintaining the organization’s technology infrastructure, applications, and web platforms. This role develops and manages software solutions and websites, provides day-to-day technical support to staff, and ensures the security and reliability of network systems. In addition, the position supports multimedia initiatives through video production, photography, and digital content editing.
Description of Duties:
- Monitor and maintain Agency computers and network systems, including inventory management, evaluation, and maintenance of hardware and commercial software components.
- Perform data backup and retrieval functions; assist in the development and monitoring of system security measures.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues in a timely manner.
- Maintain and update records of Agency computer, phone, copier, and printer hardware and software assets.
- Develops, maintains, and manages Agency software applications and websites using relevant technologies (hosting through AWS), including JavaScript, Python, SCSS (Syntactically Awesome Stylesheets), React, Typescript, HTML. Designs, implements, and updates website functionality, content, and user interface components to support Agency operations and communications.
- Integrates applications and web platforms with SQL and cloud-based databases and systems as required.
- Consults with system users to gather requirements, refine functionality, test performance, and configure solutions to meet Agency needs.
- Provides general day-to-day IT support & customer service to users.
- Resolves hardware, software, network and other general account related issues.
- Works with State and third-party vendors as necessary to resolve issues.
- Completes and documents IT tickets for reporting and tracking.
- Performs routine analysis to resolve problems on computer or telecommunication network for applications running in standalone, client/server, web-based, and/or networked environments.
- Install and configure hardware, software, and network connectivity; follow established technical procedures and documentation.
- Read and interpret technical manuals and documentation to ensure proper implementation and maintenance.
- Provide user assistance and training related to software applications and hardware usage.
- Develop and maintain written instructional manuals and documentation for computer operations.
- Assist with new user account provisioning and creation.
- Conduct video and audio recording for internal and external Agency projects using standard camera, gimbal, and drone equipment.
- Perform video editing using Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Audition.
- Captures digital photography and performs editing.
- Attends seminars, conferences, and training to update computer skills.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Regular, predictable attendance is an essential function of the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.
- Completion of a post-secondary degree in information technology, computer science or programming is preferred.
- Combination of other education, training, industry credentials and/or experience will be considered.

- Knowledge of: Computers and electronics; web design and maintenance; coding; videography; photography; oral and written communication tools and techniques; customer support & personal service; state and agency policy; procedures and applicable laws; vision, mission, and goals of agency; telecommunications; IT security principles and methods; mathematic principles relative to assigned area in IT; safety practices, operating systems installation, and configuration procedures; network standards, protocols, & procedures; platform usage, capabilities, and applications of network equipment including hubs, routers, switches, bridges, servers, and related hardware; technology design techniques; basic internet server maintenance techniques; back-up and recovery techniques; and technical writing and documentation.
- Ability to: Deal with problems involving several variables in familiar context; apply principles to solve practical, everyday problems; interpret variety of instructions in written, oral, picture, or schedule form; define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; comprehend and record figures accurately; add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers; calculate fractions, decimals, and percentages; comprehend simple sentences with common vocabulary; copy material accurately and recognize errors; complete routine forms; maintain accurate records; understand manuals and verbal instructions that are technical in nature; use proper research methods in gathering data; work alone on most tasks; and stay informed of current technologies.
Salary and Benefits:
- Starting pay is $29.05 per hour
- Monday - Friday (37.5 hours per week), 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
