FULL-TIME EMPLOYMENT SPECIALIST

 

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:  Director of Operations

      

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:   

  • Documented experience working with people who have Developmental Disabilities
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Flexibility in meeting work scheduled
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license
  • Able to obtain DODD certification

    

JOB DUTIES: 

  • Provides training and guidance at the workplace helping individuals learn job tasks, improve performance, and navigate the work environment
  • Designs and structures training methods and/or working environments to meet the needs of both the individual performing the work and the employer including person-centered techniques and company approaches or training techniques
  • Learns and understands specific jobs in community locations, analyzing the job and structuring training methods to meet the needs of the individual
  • Identifies community resourcesincluding transportation for individuals that may be beneficial to employment needs
  • Advocates for individuals with their employer, ensuring that accommodations are made or that the work environment is inclusive
  • Assists individuals resolving any workplace issues including communication, task understanding, or social interactions
  • Provides regular follow-up services to employed individuals and their employers providing feedback, skill reinforcement, and offering continued support as needed
  • Provides constructive feedback in a positive manner to help individuals understand what they’re doing well and where they can improve
  • Builds trust and develops positive relationships with individuals key to fostering a supportive and motivating work environment
  • Creates individualized plans to fade services or involvement with individuals as they gain confidence and competence in their job to promote independence and ownership
  • Analyzes the local market, jobs, and job trends identifying opportunities in the community using current agency methods 
  • Completes documentation and collects data to report progress to the individual’s team members
  • Performs other tasks as deemed necessary by supervisor and/or Superintendent                                         

 

SALARY RANGE:    Commensurate with training, education, experience                                                                                                     and Jefferson County Board DD salary schedule
