Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
    • Master’s degree in mathematics or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
    • Demonstrated proficiency and expertise in mathematics.
    • 2+ years’ experience teaching mathematics courses, preferably at the college level.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Functional competency with the Canvas LMS, and other related educational technology tools.
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in a team-oriented environment.
    • Dedication to student-centered learning and academic excellence.
    • Successful completion of a background check and a drug screen are required

 

 
Preferred Qualifications:
    • PhD in Mathematics or a closely related field.
    • 5+ years of teaching experience at the college level, with a record of effective instruction and student engagement.
    • Evidence of scholarly activity such as research publications, conference presentations, or grant funding.
    • Demonstrated experience with innovative teaching methods, technology integration, and curriculum development.

 

 
Summary of Duties:
Instruction and Student Learning Deliver high-quality instruction that aligns with course objectives and institutional standards. Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, assignments, and assessments to support student learning. Utilize diverse instructional strategies, including technology-enhanced learning, to accommodate various learning styles. Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to promote academic growth. Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and assessments in accordance with college policies.

Student Engagement & Advisement Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation. Serve as an academic resource for students, offering guidance on coursework, study strategies, and academic progress. Encourage student engagement through active discussions, collaborative projects, and real-world applications of course material. Be available for student inquiries and provide office hours or virtual support as needed.

Culture of Respect Promote an inclusive classroom environment that values diversity, equity, and mutual respect. Model professional behavior and ethical conduct in interactions with students, colleagues, and staff. Uphold academic integrity and encourage a culture of honesty and accountability. Address student concerns with empathy and professionalism while adhering to institutional policies. Support and contribute to a positive, respectful college community that enhances the overall student experience.

Faculty position description per the “Agreement Between the Central Ohio Technical College and the United Faculty/Central Ohio Technical College, AFT/OFT.”The full-time Math Faculty Member at COTC will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in various mathematics courses, fostering student success, and contributing to the academic environment of the Mathematics Department and the Division of Arts & Sciences. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in mathematics, effective teaching methodologies, and a track record of scholarly activity. Additionally, they will collaborate with colleagues, participate in departmental activities, and engage in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching and learning.

Teaching assignments may vary by mode of delivery and locations within the college’s service area.
