Position Overview
Altamira is seeking a Platform Engineer to support next-generation cloud and containerized environments within the Intelligence Community. This role will focus on designing, deploying, and operating secure, scalable Kubernetes-based platforms that enable modern application development and delivery.

The ideal candidate brings strong experience in cloud-native infrastructure, automation, and DevSecOps practices, and is comfortable operating in complex, mission-critical environments.
Key Responsibilities

Design, deploy, and maintain production Kubernetes clusters in classified environments
Build and operate internal developer platforms supporting microservices and containerized workloads
Implement and manage GitOps and CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Argo CD and Argo Workflows
Automate infrastructure and platform operations using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
Configure and manage service networking, ingress, and service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio)
Integrate observability and monitoring solutions using OpenTelemetry and related tooling
Collaborate with application teams, security engineers, and infrastructure teams to ensure reliable platform operations
Troubleshoot and resolve complex platform, networking, and deployment issues
Support platform hardening, compliance, and security best practices
Participate in architecture reviews and technical planning activities

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Experience in systems, cloud, or platform engineering roles
Hands-on experience administering Kubernetes in production environments
Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or equivalent tools
Experience with CI/CD and GitOps workflows
Strong Linux systems administration skills
Experience operating in AWS or other cloud environments
Ability to work effectively in secure, mission-focused environments

Preferred Qualifications

Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
AWS Certified Solutions Architect or CloudOps certification
Experience with Istio (ambient mesh and ingress)
Experience with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar tools
Experience with secrets management (Vault) and identity systems
Familiarity with Kafka, PostgreSQL, Redis, or cloud-native data platforms
Prior experience supporting DoD or Intelligence Community programs
