Behavior Support Professional

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The BSP performs assessments, develops rehabilitation program plans to increase independent living skills, provides training in the person-specific aspects and methods of a plan of intervention or instruction to primary care providers for consumers with significant mal-adaptive behaviors. The plan of intervention will require a behavioral guideline, protocol, or behavior plan depending on the consumer's need. The BSP also provides monitoring and evaluation of the plan of intervention or instruction for adults with cognitive, emotional, physical, and developmental disabilities in Ohio, Marshall, and Whetzel Counties in West Virginia.

 

Case Manager

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Case Management services establish a life-long, person-centered, goal-oriented process for coordinating the supports (both natural and paid), range of services, instruction and assistance needed by persons with developmental disabilities. This services is designed to ensure accessibility, accountability, and continuity of support and services. This service also ensures that the maximum potential and productivity of a member is utilized in making meaningful choices with regard to their life and their inclusion in the community. All IDDW services purchased, however, must be within their annual individualized budget.

 

Qualifications:

  1. Must have a valid driver's license.
  2. Successfully pass criminal background requirements set forth in licensesure regulations.
  3. Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel and the ability to learn new software programs, utilized for scheduling, billing, consumer data and other related purposes.
  4. Possess 1 of the following:

 

  • Four-year degree in a human service field and one or more years' experience in the IDD field.
  • Four-year degree in a human service field and less than one year of experience in the IDD field. (Restrictions - must be under the supervision of the case manager supervisor. Clinical supervision involves review of clinical activities, review of case notes, and review of treatment plans for six months. This must be verified by supervisory documentation once per month).
  • Four-year degree in a non-human service field and one year experience in the IDD field. (Restrictions - must be under the supervision of the case manager Supervisor. Clinical supervision involves review of clinical activities, review of case notes, and review of treatment plans for six months. This must be verified by supervisory documentation once per month).

 

BSP RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide BSP services to assigned clients as set forth in the Medicaid Title XIX I/DD Waiver Manual, alternative funding source requirements and agency policy regardless of participant's funding source or lack thereof.
  • Maintain compliance with Medicaid Title XIX I/DD Waiver regulations
  • Performs assessments to establish baseline data for behavioral interventions.

- Drafts positive behavioral support plans, behavior management plans, behavioral protocols and accompanying documentation.

- Analyzes data and makes modifications as needed.

  • Creates program strategies, techniques, materials and methods to assist consumer in obtaining objectives in accordance with documented priority needs through the annual assessment as approved by the treatment team.

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Attends ongoing training as requested or in accordance with need and reads scholarly books and articles on topics related to the field of I/DD and community resources.
  • Presents community education as requested.
  • Attends staff meetings, social and recreational events as directed.
  • Participates in governmental, community, and civic organizations or groups as directed.
  • Provides training to new and existing staff as directed.
