Defiance County Victims Assistance is accepting applications for a Full-Time Victim Advocate to provide trauma-informed support and advocacy services to victims/survivors of crime. This position works closely with community partners including law enforcement, prosecutors, courts, and service providers.
Pay: Starting between $18-$20 (depending on experience and qualification) Non-Exempt/Hourly
Schedule: Full-time (40 hours/week); some evening/weekend availability and on-call rotation as assigned
Location: Defiance County (office-based with local travel for court/hospital/community response)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide crisis intervention, emotional support, and advocacy services
- Complete trauma-informed intakes, needs assessments, and safety planning
- Explain victim rights and assist clients in navigating the criminal justice process
- Provide court accompaniment and coordination with justice system partners
- Maintain accurate, confidential case documentation and required grant data
- Participate in trainings, meetings, and outreach activities as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED required; college coursework/degree in human services, criminal justice, social work, or related field preferred
- Experience in advocacy, crisis response, social services, or related work preferred
- Strong communication, documentation, and computer skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
