The Sanitor is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing the process equipment to establish a clean environment for producing and packaging quality products. Ensures equipment and facility are effectively sanitized in accordance with established food manufacturing regulations and in compliance with government sanitation requirements.

Quality

1.Inspects equipment to verify cleaning meets specifications.

2.Provides training in HACCP and GMP regulations and practices and enforce employee compliance.

3.Learns and performs proper Allergen Elimination Procedures.

4.Practices and adheres to appropriate safety and hygiene guidelines/procedures for safe housekeeping and personal protection.

5.Follows all applicable GMP's for the area in which he/she is assigned. Maintains and uses appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) in accordance with company policy.

Safety

1.Maintains a safe environment for themselves and fellow employees.

2.Read and understands SDS (safety data sheets) information and preparations and use of chemical cleaning agents in a manner consistent with the company policy.

3.Assists in spill containment caused by various events.

4.Assists in pest control, by noting and communicating pest activity.

5.Ability to be LOTO (lockout/tagout) and BBP (bloodborne pathogen) trained.

Cleaning

1.Performs plant cleaning as prescribed by the Master Sanitation Schedule. Maintains food safe production zones in all areas of plant.

2.Utilizes powered cleaning equipment that may include powered lifts, scissors lifts, power washers, foam applicators, steamers, automatic compactors, motors and various non-mechanized equipment.

3.Demonstrates the ability to operate equipment such as floor jacks, trash compactor, and vacuum cleaner, floor scrubber in a safe and knowledgeable manner.

4.Follows instructions for safe lifting and carrying various sizes, shapes, and weight of objects; identifies/reports defective equipment; reports all job-related injuries to management.

5.Disassembles and reassembles machines, bucket elevators, filters and other processing equipment.

6.Understands and utilized chemistry appropriately for the surface.

4.Works independently, with no direct supervision in a high efficiency level.

5.Participates in all necessary safety training, team development programs, and plant initiatives.

Education and Experience

1.Familiarity with a food manufacturing plant environment and pace.

2.Effective verbal and written communication skills.

3.Familiarity with HACCP and FDA regulations.

All sanitation employees are/can be mandated to work on all plant shutdown days (when production is not operating), including holidays and weekends as the sanitation schedule and production downtime requires. Shift Schedule: Each Sanitation employee will be expected to work a rotating 4 12-hour workday weekly schedule.

Department requirements: PIE, MEWP, Fall Protection, and Chemical Training are required, along with continued training and recertification.

Working conditions: PPE is required to be worn according to company guidance, hot and wet work environments are to be expected. Extended periods of movement and the ability to work and maneuver in tight or difficult to reach areas.

Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation.
