SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have at least 2 months of verifiable experience in all job duties. This job requires exposure to extreme temperatures, ability to lift 50 lbs., repetitive movements, extensive walking, frequent stooping, extensive pushing and pulling, drug screen.
JOB DUTIES: Handling manual tasks associated with commodity production and harvest activities.
FARM LABORER: Worker will be required to complete the following activities as directed by supervisor: perform general farm labor including planting, transplanting, cultivating, thinning, and harvesting agricultural and nursery crops including ornamental trees, shrubs, pumpkins, squash, zucchini, peppers, watermelons, sweet corn, and other vegetables; harvest crops by hand or machine using hand tools and clippers as needed; grade, sort, packing at warehouse and field pack produce; pick and load produce into buckets, bins, trucks, and trailers; prepare soil and fields for planting including plowing, disking, harrowing, fertilizing, and laying plastic; maintain fields and tree blocks including mowing, weed whipping, pulling weeds by hand, pruning, staking, and applying fertilizers and crop protectants; dig, remove, and handle trees and plants; load and unload plants, produce, and farm supplies; perform irrigation installation, including drip and solid set, and perform irrigation maintenance and repair; perform general maintenance and clean-up including removing debris, rocks, and trash; May assist with loading, unloading, cleaning, and staging equipment and materials. Does not operate powered farm machinery. Workers may drive employer provided vehicle. Workers may occasionally operate small tractors during the field harvest process to move products from field to loading dock. In addition to the duties listed above, workers may be designated to perform as a working team lead within the harvest crew. Worker will relay daily work instructions provided by the employer or farm supervisors to other crew members and assist in ensuring tasks are completed according to established crop quality, handling, and safety standards. Worker will provide hands on guidance to crew members by demonstrating proper harvesting techniques, work methods, and safe practices while performing the same tasks alongside the crew. Worker may assist with orienting new or less experienced workers to assigned tasks and serve as a communication link between workers and management by reporting progress, field conditions, and any issues observed during the workday. This role does not include authority to hire, fire, discipline, set wages, or make employment decisions, but is intended to support efficient workflow, quality control, and adherence to employer instructions in the field. EMPLOYER ASSURANCES:
BOARD ARRANGEMENTS: Employer will furnish free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities so workers are able to prepare their own meals. The employer will provide transportation to assure workers access to stores where they can purchase groceries.
HOUSING: Employer-provided housing is available for all workers who live outside a reasonable daily driving distance.
TRANSPORTATION TO WORK SITE: The employer will provide transportation for all workers living in the employer-provided housing to and from the daily work site(s).
WORKERS COMPENSATION INSURANCE: Provided.
TOOLS, SUPPLIES, EQUIPMENT: Tools, supplies, and equipment needed to complete the job will be provided by the employer at no cost to the worker.
