Position Summary

Sabel Systems is seeking a Summer Product Development Intern with Sabel Digital Labs (SDL) to support the design, development, and enhancement of modern digital solutions within a government contracting (GovCon) environment. This 10-week paid summer internship, with participation available between May 18, 2026, and September 11, 2026, is ideal for students pursuing computer science, software engineering, data science, artificial intelligence, information technology, or related degrees who want hands-on experience contributing to real products and learning how software is developed in a mission-driven organization.

Interns participate full-time (40 hours per week) aligned to Eastern Time Zone business hours and work in a hybrid environment, supporting one to three days per week onsite at our Beavercreek, OH or Tysons, VA offices.

Work You’ll Do

As an Intern with Sabel Digital Labs (SDL), you’ll work alongside experienced engineers and product team members in an Agile development environment, gaining exposure to the full software development lifecycle while building technical and professional skills applicable to future career opportunities. Interns will contribute to the nimbusCORE product development effort, supporting the design and build of this emerging platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design, development, testing, and enhancement of applications and digital solutions
  • Collaborate with team members during Agile sprints, including development, testing, and documentation activities
  • Assist with backlog grooming, user story refinement, and sprint planning
  • Support front-end, back-end, or full-stack development efforts based on interests and skill level
  • Learn and apply best practices related to secure software development, version control, and modern development tools

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled undergraduate, or graduate students pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, AI, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Strong academic record, cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Foundational understanding of programming concepts and interest in software development
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate clearly
  • Ability to manage assignments independently and within a team setting
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Agile or Scrum concepts through coursework or projects
  • Interest in secure systems, cloud-based applications, or DevSecOps practices
  • Exposure to the following:

Programming Languages: Python, Java, Bash, Verilog, SQL, MATLAB, HTML

Tools & Frameworks: Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Grafana, Linux, GitLab, PyTorch, CI/CD Pipelines

Productivity & Design: Fusion 360, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud

Compensation

This is a paid, temporary, Summer Internship compensated at $25.00 per hour. Internship participation does not guarantee future employment; however, high-performing interns may be considered for upcoming opportunities based on business needs, performance, and available roles.
