JOB DUTIES: Handling manual tasks associated with commodity production and harvest activities.
Crops/Commodities: N/A. Primary duties (performed the majority of workdays): Workers needed to clean plant-wide in Environmental Zone 3 (areas in exposed product rooms that are away from product contact surfaces; walls, sinks, forklifts, etc.) and Environmental Zone 4 (areas outside of rooms where there is exposed products; warehousing, racks, floors, walls, etc.), and plant floors and drains. Workers expected to perform basic duties in a proficient manner without close supervision. Workers must be able to comprehend and follow instructions and communicate effectively to supervisors. All work is done in accordance with Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures and Master Sanitation Schedule. Under direct supervision, workers will clean in Environmental Zone 1 (food contact surfaces, belts, elevators, shakers, etc.) and Zone 2 (areas immediately adjacent to food contact surfaces; framework, aprons, items directly over food contact areas, etc.) in pre-blanch areas only. Operate chemical dispensing equipment, sanitation equipment, machinery controls, and various tools. Workers must operate all equipment properly and in a manner that protects operator, others, the employer's products and property. Failure to comply with safety requirements and operating instructions may result in disciplinary action up to and including immediate termination. Workers may additionally be asked to prep asparagus fields during a 4-8 week window. Use hand tools including, but not limited to shovels and hoes to remove rocks, sticks and other debris. Spread plastic or other ground covering as needed. Clean plastic by hand from ground upon removal. Weed and thin plants. Take care to prevent damaging plants. Workers who work on the asparagus field will not be offered shift work. Employer-paid post-hire drug testing is required upon reasonable suspicion of use. Workers may not leave the job assignment area without authorization. Leaving job area or farm without permission will be considered to be a voluntary resignation. Persons seeking employment in this position must be available for the entire period requested by the employer. Job opportunity is Skill Level I. All primary duties are entry-level and require close supervision and/or a short demonstration of the task by a more experienced worker. Employer may request, but not require, workers to work more than the stated daily hours and/or on a worker's Sabbath or federal holidays. Worker must report to work at designated time and place each day. Daily or weekly work schedule may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, crop conditions, and other factors. Employer will notify workers of any change to start time. Workers will have an unpaid lunch break. Workers will be offered alternating days off. Workers may be required to work shifts during a 4–6 week period to complete field preparation activities, with an unpaid lunch break, Monday through Saturday. Possible shifts include: Shift 1: 11:30 p.m. – 8:00 a.m. Shift 2: 11:30 p.m. – 11:30 a.m. Each worker will be assigned to a shift. TERMINATION. Prior to any termination for cause, employer evaluates workers' performance of required tasks and compliance with Work Rules and other employer policies. Employer may terminate a worker for cause if the worker's performance consistently and/or substantially fails to satisfy the employer's reasonable expectations (in accordance with the criteria set forth herein), or otherwise engages in serious or egregious misconduct that endangers health, safety, or property.
EMPLOYER ASSURANCES:
BOARD ARRANGEMENTS: Employer will furnish free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities so workers are able to prepare their own meals. The employer will provide transportation to assure workers access to stores where they can purchase groceries.
HOUSING: Employer-provided housing is available for all workers who live outside a reasonable daily driving distance.
TRANSPORTATION TO WORK SITE: The employer will provide transportation for all workers living in the employer-provided housing to and from the daily work site(s).
WORKERS COMPENSATION INSURANCE: Provided.
TOOLS, SUPPLIES, EQUIPMENT: Tools, supplies, and equipment needed to complete the job will be provided by the employer at no cost to the worker.
