Material Handler
Position Summary
We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Material Handler to manage material flow for a large, strategic manufacturing program. This role is responsible for coordinating the receipt, staging, movement, tracking, packaging, and outbound preparation of materials. The ideal candidate has experience in shop floor logistics, thrives in a manufacturing environment, and can work cross-functionally to ensure accuracy, traceability, and schedule adherence.
This position serves as the internal point of contact for material status, routing, and bottleneck resolution. When program workload allows, the role also supports general warehouse operations such as receiving, cycle counting, and inventory accuracy initiatives.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to handle materials; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Location: Middleburg Heights, OH (Greater Cleveland area)
Pay Range: $15.77 – $20.00 per hour
Schedule: 1st Shift | Monday–Friday | 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, receive, and route inbound materials; verify receipts against purchase orders
- Coordinate with Purchasing to ensure required documentation and material status information is available
- Manage material flow through inspection, outside processing, production, quality, and outbound steps
- Issue material to jobs, pick lists, and staging locations while maintaining accurate ERP location control
- Run daily ship lists and review two-week look-ahead schedules to identify and resolve potential delays
- Track order progress and communicate ETAs, risks, shortages, and bottlenecks to internal stakeholders
- Update scheduled ship dates and document workflow delays as needed
- Prepare, crate, label, and stage finished products for outbound shipment
- Coordinate shipping methods and carrier requirements with the Shipping team
- Maintain designated storage zones and ensure traceability, serialization, and lot control
- Support cycle counts, discrepancy resolution, receiving, and warehouse operations as workload allows
- Provide backup support for Receiving as needed
- Process material pulls and assembly kits for outbound orders
- Verify product quantities, lot numbers, and storage locations with accuracy
Qualifications
- 2–3 years of experience in material handling, logistics, warehouse, or production support in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Experience using ERP systems for material movement, issuance, and location control (Oracle experience a plus)
- Familiarity with routers, pick lists, purchase orders, and traceability requirements
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and follow-through skills
- Ability to communicate effectively across departments and drive progress
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and operate forklifts and pallet jacks (or obtain certification)
- Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly with team members and other departments
