Full-Time

$17.31/Hour 

Schedule: Monday-Friday, variable with on call duties

 

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Senior Social Service Assistant will be responsible for the Program Manager of the locality in which they are employed. The position's primary focus is to provide trauma-informed case management to clients in our facilities. They will be expected to work within the policies and procedures and work toward maintaining good service standards and professional practices. This position provides case management to a caseload of internal clients.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. From a trauma-informed approach, case management involves internal clients receiving assistance in our shelter.

2. Responsible for managing paperwork and billing for our contractual obligations, as needed.

3. Attend meetings (virtual and in-person), training, and conferences as requested.

4. Responsible for organized and detail-oriented clients’ files. Prepare for program audits with the Program Manager.

5. One week per month of on-call responsibility.

6. Assists Program Manager in providing coverage for open shifts and call-offs when on-call.

7. Implements risk assessments according to policies and procedures as directed by the Program Manager.

8. Assist in the initiation, development, and oversight of new aspects of service provision, including use and access to ordinary community facilities.

9. As part of the shelter's leadership team, you will lead by example by working collaboratively, respectfully, and kindly with colleagues, community partners, all shelter staff, and residents.

10. Attend all outside meetings with the Program Manager (Prioritization meetings, Change Hunger meetings, etc.).

11. Provide residents with a wide range of practical, personal, social, and general care services.

12. Using a trauma-informed approach, collaborate with clients to develop realistic case management goals and a comprehensive understanding and assessment of their needs. Demonstrate patience, empathy, and nonjudgmental approaches when working with clients.

13. Closely monitor and review the agreed support plan weekly in case management meetings with clients according to the changing needs of the residents.

14. Promote resident involvement by maximizing participation in the decision-making process within the services, as needed. Lead house meetings, life skills classes, creative classes, staff-led groups, and staff meetings with the program manager.

15. Communicate and liaise with various (e.g. Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Services Commission, Probation Services, Housing Authority, Landlords, Department of Jobs and Family Services, Legal and Consumer Credit Organizations, Community partnership meetings).

16. Complies with agency policies and procedures, COA regulations, federal and state requirements, and educational/certification/registry requirements.

17. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Ability to model open communication, fair and equitable treatment, and display empathy and respect to people of all backgrounds.

2. Professional in-person, phone, email, and written communication skills for team members and clients, even in stressful situations

3. Knowledge of resources/community services.

4. Must be able to obtain CPR/First Aid certification.

5. Must possess Microsoft Word skills.

6. Must have reliable transportation and a phone.

7. Must have the ability to be on call for one week a month

8. Valid Ohio Driver’s License and ability to meet agency requirements for driving insurability if applicable.

9. Must be able to meet agency requirements for criminal background check (Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification & Investigation) if applicable.

 

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL/LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS: A High School Diploma or GED is required, along with Case Management experience. A bachelor’s degree or pursuing a degree in social work and/or a related field is preferred. CPR/First Aid Certification is also preferred

 

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Experience working in crisis intervention and case management preferred.
