Job title: Electrical/Industrial Maintenance Technician
Location: Ravenna, OH
Shift: 1 st (Monday through Friday 6 am to 2:45 pm) OT as needed
Salary: $25-$37 an hour based on experience (plus $2 shift premium)
Contract to hire

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Electrical & Industrial Maintenance Technician to support manufacturing operations by maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment and facility systems. This role is critical to ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. The ideal candidate will have strong electrical and mechanical experience in a manufacturing setting, particularly within extrusion or compounding environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support electrical needs in labs, testing areas, IT systems, and overall building infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain extrusion, mixing, packaging, and related manufacturing equipment.
  • Perform complex electrical work on circuits, wiring, sensors, AC/DC drives, motors, control panels, and power distribution systems (110–480 VAC, 12–24 VDC).
  • Install and connect conduit, pull boxes, hand holes, and route cables using appropriate tools.
  • Diagnose and repair industrial control systems, including temperature control, cooling, and HVAC systems.
  • Read and interpret electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automation schematics and blueprints.
  • Perform mechanical repairs on conveyors, pumps, valves, drives, blowers, hoppers, and rotating equipment.
  • Support hydraulic and pneumatic system troubleshooting and repair.
  • Complete basic electrical installations and mechanical repairs as needed.
  • Install, inspect, and service AC/DC motors.
  • Perform preventative maintenance (PM) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) tasks; document all work in CMMS.
  • Coordinate with external service providers for specialized equipment maintenance when necessary.
  • Identify critical spare parts and communicate needs with Maintenance leadership.
  • Maintain lighting systems, switchboards, and facility electrical components.
  • Demonstrate initiative and ability to learn complex manufacturing systems.
  • Provide on-call support and work overtime, weekends, or holidays as required.
  • Follow all safety protocols including LOTO, PPE, confined space, permit-to-work procedures, and applicable OSHA/NFPA/EPA regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, working at heights, rooftops, confined spaces, and indoor/outdoor environments.
  • Operate tow motors and pallet jacks as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1–3+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical diagrams
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools
  • Ability to perform basic calculations accurately
  • Ability to read color-coded wiring and pull cables through conduit
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment screening
Preferred:
  • 3–5+ years of hands-on industrial electrical maintenance experience (extrusion or compounding environment preferred)
  • Completion of an Industrial Electrician Apprenticeship or Associate's Degree in Electrical Technology
  • Experience with PLCs, industrial automation platforms, and AC/DC drive systems
  • Welding and fabrication experience
  • Background in construction-related trades (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, masonry, etc.)
  • Familiarity with CMMS, inventory systems, and scheduling software
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70E and other electrical safety standards
