Job Description

What You’ll Do:

Case Review & Overpayment Determination
Reviews and responds to Income Eligibility Verification System (IEVS) matches, computer-generated alerts, and other public assistance case information to determine potential overpayments or over-issuances. Obtains required verifications from appropriate sources and calculates overpayment amounts for benefit recovery.

Eligibility Determination & Data Processing
Determines eligibility for the Prevention, Retention, and Contingency (PRC) Program. Scans and processes documentation through Compass Capture and accurately enters case information into systems including Ohio Benefits, Ohio Client Scheduling, OnBase, and Compass Forms.

Investigations & Fraud Documentation
Conducts in-office and field investigations to collect information, documentation, and evidence related to suspected public assistance fraud. Prepares case documentation and refers cases for recovery through small claims court, internal legal staff, or the county prosecutor for repayment agreements, prosecution, or program disqualification. Prepares and presents cases for State Hearings and court conferences.

Client Communication & Case Monitoring
Interviews clients to establish or negotiate repayment agreements and court-ordered restitution payments. Monitors enforcement cases, including repayments and recoupments, conducts follow-up activities, and responds to inquiries, complaints, and reports of suspected fraudulent activity from staff, clients, and the public.

What We’re Looking For:
Education: Possession of an associate degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
Experience: Six (6) months or more of related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Licenses/Certifications: Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license and maintain insurability under the County’s vehicle insurance policy.

Skills & Abilities:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information.
Proficient in computer systems and data entry.
