The University of Findlay (www.findlay.edu) is seeking a full-time Assistant Director of Housing and Residence Life, responsible for assisting the Director of Housing and Residence Life and the Associate Vice President for Student Life in the administration and management of all Housing and Residence Life functions including but not limited to mentoring and training 52 student staff members, housing students, monitoring facility conditions, planning renovations, marketing housing options to increase retention, maintaining housing web pages, assisting with the direct and indirect supervision of the undergraduate/graduate Resident Director and Resident Assistant staffs, directing programming efforts in campus living units, and assisting with leading Residence Life staff selection and training.
The person holding this position is required to live in an assigned University house and participate in the meal program to carry out the duties associated with this position. This is a twelve-month, exempt position which includes a competitive salary, benefits, board, and residency in a University-owned house.
A bachelor’s degree is required, master’s degree is preferred, with a minimum of 6-18 months’ work experience in a professional setting. Candidates must possess knowledge of and experience with personnel management techniques, general business practices, residence life practices, crisis management, staff development and supervision, web page design/creation, and college student characteristics; familiarity with MS Office applications; strong oral and written communication skills; an understanding of and a commitment to the student development philosophy, and the ability to organize a University housing and residence life program reflective of this point of view; and beliefs supportive of and compatible with the principles of the mission statement and goals of the University of Findlay. Preference given to candidates with previous experience with facility management and/or residence life management, and familiarity with The Housing Director software.
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area travel may be expected. A valid US Drivers’ license with a safe driving record is required.
