Currently seeking a Production Supervisor in our Melt Shop located in Lorain County -- details are listed below:


Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support, guide, train and coach all associates in the department
  • Align each associate with performance expectations based on skill and ability and provide them the tools needed to be successful
  • Plan and schedule work activities to meet production targets and deadlines
  • Monitor team member performance and ensure high productivity levels while maintaining quality
  • Observe machines and equipment for malfunction. Repair and adjust accordingly for best operational and quality results
  • Analyze production data and provide reports to management regarding performance and areas for improvement
  • Communicate/collaborate with all other departments within the Foundry to support smooth operations
  • Provide hands-on assistance to backfill or assist with production as necessary
  • Collaborate with HR and Safety with employee relations and the hiring process
  • Assist in developing and implementing strategies for improving efficiency and reducing waste
  • Enforce workplace policy and procedure to promote a safe and healthy work environment
  • Train new hires and current employees in shake out processes and in the operation of machines and equipment.
  • Foster effective employee relations and positive employee morale
  • Perform other duties as required


Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:

  • 5-10 years of Melt Shop Iron Foundry production experience
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1-5 years of leadership experience in sand casting environment
  • Excellent coordination and attention to detail
  • General knowledge of machines and tools, including their uses and maintenance as well as using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes
  • Experience inspecting equipment, structures or materials to identify the cause of errors or defects
  • Ability to read and follow detailed work instructions
  • Basic math skills
  • Effective leadership, verbal and written communication skills


Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Comfortable working near and around extreme heat (furnaces/ladles of iron)
  • Handle moving objects: Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning and moving materials.
  • Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking stooping and handling materials.
  • Indoor and outdoor climate conditions during all seasons and in varying temperatures.
  • Ability to lift items up to 50 lbs.
