HX5 is currently seeking a Fluid Systems Engineer to join our team in Brook Park, Ohio in support of the GEARS contract at NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will provide comprehensive engineering support for the development, maturation, and advancement of superconducting motor technologies and the cryocooler systems required to cool superconducting components.
This includes contributing to the technological development of superconducting electric machines, supporting the design and integration of cryocoolers used for conductive cooling of superconducting rotors and assisting in system-level analysis, testing and verification activities essential to advancing superconducting propulsion architectures.
The selected candidate must have the following experience:
- Understand mechanical components and assemblies.
- 3D modeling and drawing skills; preferably using Solidworks.
- Familiarity with sensors and data acquisition systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical hardware
- Knowledge of heat transfer principles and thermal management for test environments.
- Awareness of lab safety protocols and handling of mechanical systems under operational conditions.
- Ability to create detailed test procedures, test plans, setup diagrams and reports.
Other Desired Skills:
- Experience working with cryogenic and vacuum systems
- Fluid System Design.
- Operating and preparing test setups.
- Familiarity with electric systems.
Education and Experience:
Aerospace Engineering degree from an accredited program, with the following combination of education and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree with two (2) to five (5) years of experience.
Other Position Requirements:
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship is a requirement for this position.
- Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
