Job Description: Siffrin, based in Canton, OH, has multiple Direct Support Professional - Stark County / Part Time & Full Time openings.

What You'll Be Doing: The Heart of the Role

As a DSP, you are the cornerstone of support, independence and well-being for the individuals we serve. Your essential functions include:

  • Compassionate Direct Care: Assisting with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation and medication administration. You will maintain a safe, sanitary and supportive home environment.
  • Empowerment and Advocacy: Encouraging independence, self-advocacy and community involvement. You will uphold the “Bill of Rights for People with Developmental Disabilities” and help plan meaningful leisure activities like shopping and community outings.
  • Essential Transportation: Safely driving clients to and from medical appointments, educational programs, recreational activities and community events, following all Ohio DODD and agency safety protocols.
  • Medical Support: Scheduling, accompanying and supporting individuals at their medical appointments. Administering medications and treatments accurately according to documented procedures (Category 1 Certification required; Category 2/3 may be needed).
  • Professional Documentation: Maintaining accurate and confidential records (paper or electronic) of progress, medical information and daily activities in compliance with HIPAA and DODD guidelines.

 

Qualifications We Are Looking For:

  • Required: High school diploma or GED.
  • Required: Basic computer skills (Word, Outlook, internet navigation).
  • Required: Must pass agency criminal background and motor vehicle record checks.
  • Required: Ability to complete and maintain all required agency and Ohio DODD training, including Medication Administration (Cat 1).
  • A Plus: Certifications in advanced medical procedures like G/J Tube (Cat 2) or Insulin Administration (Cat 3) are valuable, and may be required based on location needs.

 

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

This role is active and dynamic! You must be able to:

  • Operate a vehicle safely in various weather conditions.
  • Provide physical assistance, including lifting at least 50 pounds, transferring, bathing, pushing wheelchairs and using adaptive equipment (like Hoyer lifts).
  • Demonstrate strong independent thinking and problem-solving skills to resolve client issues when direct supervision is not present.

Details: Part Time and Full Time. First Shift, Second Shift, Third Shift. Up to 40 hours/week. Sunday through Saturday. $16.00/hour.

 

Qualifications: High school diploma / GED. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

 

Driver’s License Requirement(s): Must have a valid driver’s license.
