Engineer – Industrial Engineering sought by Schaeffler Transmission Systems, LLC in Wooster, OH.

 

Position Duties: Design and develop end-to-end packaging of parts for e-Mobility products, including but not limited to e-Axles, generators, hybrid transmissions and battery packs. Define measures and implement them to achieve high productivity of the company's core and support production processes. Assist with supply chain and packaging costing and quoting for potential projects from various top-tier automotive clients. Apply crucial engineering processes and give input for strategic decisions. Define packaging and packaging processes for ESD sensitive parts like CMU, BMU etc. Establish pack and repack parameters for in-house, supplier, and customer parts as per product design and technology requirements. Contribute to the development of the engineering strategy within a core organizational field. Contribute to the alignment of capacity demand, budget and investment projects. Optimize existing packaging concepts for purchased and inhouse manufactured parts. Calculate packaging and service costs across the entire supply chain and create packaging proposals based on customer requirements. Plan and execute tests, check and release packaging samples and packaging systems in cooperation with suppliers and internal customers. Collaborate in acquisition, PEP, CIP and industrialization projects. Support global Schaeffler packaging network.

 

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related field and one (1) year experience in the position offered, as a Packaging Engineer or a related position. Must have one (1) year of experience with: Automotive packaging for inter and intra logistics purposes; Using simulation software including Pack Assistant and making part models using 3D concepts to create packaging for existing and new parts; Using simulation software including TOPS to develop the palletization of containers for transportation; Utilizing domestic and international transportation requirements/standards set by world trade organization (WTO) and international maritime organization (IMO); Creating packaging design (corrugated, thermo-formed, wooden, plastic totes); Packaging cost analysis, supplier negotiations and market research; Process development and Lean methodologies; SAP EP1 and EWM systems for internal document and process set-up and reference; 3D modeling and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI); Supply chain processes, new part introduction (NPI), and aftermarket/service packaging; Leading continuous improvement projects focused on waste elimination and inventory reduction; and using CAD tools like AutoCAD, Creo, Autodesk Inventor and SolidWorks for plotting, reading and analyzing part/product data and drawings, developing 2D packaging drawings for concepts and information sharing. Up to 10% of travel to various and unanticipated Schaeffler locations and client sites domestic and internationally. Telecommuting permitted two days per week.
