SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have at least 2 months of verifiable experience in all job duties. This job requires exposure to extreme temperatures, ability to lift 50 lbs., repetitive movements, extensive walking, frequent stooping, extensive pushing and pulling, drug screen and driver requirements.
JOB DUTIES: Handling manual tasks associated with commodity production and harvest activities. Light Truck Delivering fresh produce, that is grown on our farm in Southwest Michigan, to restaurants and wholesale customers, primarily in southwest Michigan, and the city of Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Drivers will be delivering agricultural product grown by employer to market within a 100-mile radius, each way, of the primary worksite. Involves safe driving, fueling, and maintaining 22' straight truck with a capacity of less than 26,001 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), for delivery of agricultural products from farm to market. Drivers will perform maintenance of the vehicles and ensure the vehicles are kept clean. Drivers will start and end each day at the listed place of employment. Shift starting and-or ending times may vary, depending on weather and traffic conditions. Maneuvering of 100 – 460 lb rolling carts within truck loading/unloading areas on uneven surfaces. Loading/unloading of rolling carts from loading area onto docking bays and lift gates; loading of product onto and off of delivery trucks, to and from racks at market locations. The delivery route, which begins and ends at the farm, may vary daily, depending upon traffic and number of stops. Interior and exterior cleaning of trucks. Therefore, the length of shifts may vary each day. The job is seasonal, approximately 8 months per year. Employer may request, but not require, that workers work more than the stated daily hours, on the worker's Sabbath, or on Federal holidays. Additional hours are voluntary.
EMPLOYER ASSURANCES:
BOARD ARRANGEMENTS: Employer will furnish free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities so workers are able to prepare their own meals. The employer will provide transportation to assure workers access to stores where they can purchase groceries.
HOUSING: Employer-provided housing is available for all workers who live outside a reasonable daily driving distance.
TRANSPORTATION TO WORK SITE: The employer will provide transportation for all workers living in the employer-provided housing to and from the daily work site(s).
WORKERS COMPENSATION INSURANCE: Provided.
TOOLS, SUPPLIES, EQUIPMENT: Tools, supplies, and equipment needed to complete the job will be provided by the employer at no cost to the worker.
