Job Title: Cleaning Assistant
Location: Cleveland, OH
Schedule: Full‑time, up to 40 hours per week
Work Hours: Monday–Friday, approximately 12:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Position Summary
The Cleaning Assistant works alongside a Cleaning Lead to support the cleaning and sanitation of a commercial facility. This role is responsible for maintaining cleanliness according to established schedules and standards. The position requires prior commercial cleaning experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to perform physical job duties in a professional workplace environment.
Essential Functions
- Maintain regular attendance to ensure the facility remains clean and sanitary.
- Follow all building safety and security protocols.
- Perform physical tasks including pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying up to 40 pounds; climbing stairs; reaching; bending; stooping; and standing for extended periods.
- Communicate clearly using strong verbal communication skills.
- Listen to and follow instructions as provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate with building or maintenance leadership regarding resource needs, obstacles, and task updates.
- Coordinate with the Cleaning Lead to ensure cleaning tasks are completed as scheduled.
- Follow all safety, security, and operational policies.
- Identify and report potential issues or hazards to the Cleaning Lead.
- Perform routine cleaning duties using appropriate tools, methods, and schedules, including:
- Dusting
- Sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping
- Cleaning walls, glass, tabletops, and surfaces
- Removing fingerprints and smudges
- Emptying trash and waste removal
- Other general cleaning tasks as assigned
- Adjust work hours for special events or occasions as needed, with advance notice.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in commercial building cleaning.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to organize work and complete assignments on time while maintaining quality.
- Ability to perform required physical duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidates must meet U.S. work authorization requirements.
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly Pay Range: $17.00 – $17.50 per hour
