JOB DUTIES: Handling manual tasks associated with commodity production and harvest activities.
We are seeking dedicated and hardworking individuals for our Tomato crops. This is a seasonal job and if hired, you are expected to complete the full contract period.
Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. The agricultural job includes duties associated with planting and harvesting tomatoes. It also includes making decisions based on size, color, and maturity in accordance with prescribed standards. Workers must be careful when carrying out their work duties on the farm and be aware of not damaging vegetables. Workers must comply with all safety rules according to the instructions of their supervisors and all agricultural work operations must comply with the standards and specifications given by the employer. They will be responsible for the classification in the field and the discarding of bad quality, rotten, and/or over-ripe products. Workers will gently load the good quality products into containers, taking care to avoid damage or bruises.
Tomato Planting: The workers will ride on a mechanical transplanter, removing tomato transplants from trays and placing those plants in slowly rotating cups to be planted by machine. Workers will feed transplant trays to each person on transplanter ensuring that transplants are in good condition and water them when necessary. Workers will also walk behind machine and fill in any gaps left by the machine.
Tomato Harvesting: Workers are assigned a row or series of rows and are required to select and choose products according to criteria described and demonstrated by managers, such as size, color, and maturity. They will be responsible for the leveling and discarding of the table of poor-quality products, rotten, or over mature. Workers can carry a full container that weighs approximately (50) fifty pounds and load them into a field container or load them into a trailer.
General Maintenance: The workers will be responsible for the general maintenance of the garden. They will remove debris from the ground like sticks, hoses, stones, straw, etc. They will be responsible for the elimination of old and unproductive trees and plants. They should take care not to damage or destroy other trees and plants or properties in the area.
EMPLOYER ASSURANCES:
BOARD ARRANGEMENTS: Employer will furnish free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities so workers are able to prepare their own meals. The employer will provide transportation to assure workers access to stores where they can purchase groceries.
HOUSING: Employer-provided housing is available for all workers who live outside a reasonable daily driving distance.
TRANSPORTATION TO WORK SITE: The employer will provide transportation for all workers living in the employer-provided housing to and from the daily work site(s).
WORKERS COMPENSATION INSURANCE:Provided.
TOOLS, SUPPLIES, EQUIPMENT: Tools, supplies, and equipment needed to complete the job will be provided by the employer at no cost to the worker.
