Position: Water Quality Assurance Operator
Location: Mentor, OH
Hours: Full Time (Weekends, Holidays, Emergency Call Outs)
Pay: $20.40-$27.00/Hr
Additional Premiums:
- Class I License: +$1.50/hour
- Class II License: +$1.75/hour

POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for the repair, maintenance, inspection, and monitoring of a potable water distribution system to ensure water quality, system efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform hydrant and system flushing to maintain chlorine levels and address water quality concerns such as taste, odor, or discoloration.
- Operate and monitor pumps, valves, meters, and related equipment; identify and correct operational issues.
- Maintain system pressure and coordinate with plant and laboratory personnel for water sampling and testing.
- Conduct annual inspections of backflow prevention devices and maintain accurate logs.
- Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of tanks, booster stations, and surrounding areas.
- Analyze system data and logs to monitor tank and reservoir activity.
- Monitor corrosion control systems, including taking readings and water samples and replacing equipment components as needed.
- Experience with maintenance and repair of pumps, motors, valves, gauges, and regulators preferred
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, GPS systems, blueprints, maps, and water treatment processes preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with coworkers, the public, and regulatory agencies
- Ability to perform physical labor and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Valid Ohio Driver’s License with a safe driving record
- Ability to pass a drug screening
- Ability to climb ladders up to 180 feet
