The Opportunity
Are you a college student or just looking for a high-energy summer job that gets you outdoors? The Logan County Engineer’s Office is now accepting applications for our 2026 Summer Highway Worker Internship. This is a great way to earn a steady paycheck, gain experience in public works, and serve the community during our busiest maintenance season.
Job Duties
As a member of our highway maintenance crew, you will perform a variety of essential tasks, including:
- Serving as a flagger to ensure the safety of our work crews and the public.
- Driving pickup trucks to set out and retrieve road signs.
- Using weed eaters and hand tools to maintain areas around buildings, fences, and rights-of-way.
- Assisting with our crack sealing and chip/seal programs to improve county roadways.
- Helping with roadside cleanup during brush cutting and tree trimming operations.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Must be 18+ with a valid Ohio Driver’s License.
- Must live within 36 minutes of 1991 CR 13, Bellefontaine, OH 43311 Bellefontaine for emergency response.
- Ability to lift 50–100 lbs. and work on uneven terrain in all summer weather conditions.
- Must be fluent in English (speaking, reading, and writing).
- Must pass a background check, drug screen, and license verification.
