The Opportunity
Are you looking for hands-on experience in civil engineering and land surveying? The Logan County Engineer’s Office is seeking a motivated Summer Technical Assistant to support our engineering and surveying team. You will be in the field helping to map and maintain the infrastructure of Logan County.
This position is perfect for students or individuals looking to build a resume in public works, engineering, or geospatial records management.
What You’ll Do
You will provide critical support to our technical staff, balancing outdoor field work with essential data organization:
- Assist with survey field operations, including flagging, digging for survey points, and helping "tie down" county roads.
- Locating and documenting survey monumentation records and bridge load rating data.
- Support ditch reassessments and research historical easement petitions and documentation.
- Assist in organizing and inventorying historical county records and maps.
- Depending on workload, you may assist with permitting and access management tasks.
Qualifications
- Age 18+ with a valid Ohio Driver’s License.
- Ability to perform manual labor and carry 50–100 lbs. and work on uneven terrain in all weather conditions.
- Must pass a background check, drug screen, and license verification.
- Must be fluent in English (speaking, reading, and writing).
- Ability to show up on time and ready for outdoor work.
- Ability to read technical records and accurately document findings.
- Must be able to follow precise technical instructions and work well within a team
